Wet Weather Leaves Las Vegas Pets Scratching
All that rain this year has been a welcome sight in the desert, but that moisture leads to abundant plant growth and high pollen counts come springtime. And this means a miserable allergy season for both us and our pets. The difference lies in how allergies affect animals compared to people. Humans commonly have hay fever signs, but dogs and cats tend to have signs related to the skin, such as chewing at feet, itching, scratching, ear infections, hair loss, and rashes.

If your pet is showing these signs then seasonal allergies might be a culprit. A physical exam and some basic skin tests are usually performed to design a treatment plan that is best for your pet. The good news is that many remedies are available for helping pets with allergies, such as antihistamines, corticosteroids, medicated shampoos and sprays, and even special diets.

City of Las Vegas Pet Licenses
We have fielded many concerned calls from clients that received a postcard alerting them to the need of a pet license in Las Vegas. The postcard directs the pet owner to mail the information with payment to an address in Irving, Texas. Rest assured that this is indeed a valid communication from the City of Las Vegas Animal Control Authority. And yes, pet licensing is required by the city and is being enforced now more by the Animal Control authorities than in past years.

According to Las Vegas animal health codes, all dogs, cats and ferrets over 4 months of age are required to have a rabies vaccine and a pet license. For more information or to obtain the license form online, visit the Las Vegas Animal Control: Click Here (link will open in a new window)
