Wendy is originally from El Paso, Texas but, as her husband was active-duty Air Force, she has lived in many other states. They were stationed in Tucson when Wendy fell in love with veterinary medicine so when University of Arizona opened a vet school it was her first choice. She received her bachelors of science from UNLV and is enrolled at U of A will graduate in 2025.
Growing up, Wendy’s mom raised her around lots of different animals and she currently has two pugs, a golden retriever, and a goldendoodle. She knew she wanted to work with animals from a young age but a defining moment was when she was nine years old and her Labrador was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. She didn’t understand the condition and wanted to know more so she decided to become a vet to better understand and be able to treat dogs like hers.
Wendy was a licensed veterinary technician in training at Lone Mountain Animal Hospital in Las Vegas before she left to go to vet school. Lone Mountain Animal Hospital provides amazing exotic animal care and she loved the challenge of understanding the physiology of so many different species.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two children and husband. They like to go to the zoo and museums or play in the backyard on the trampoline. She also enjoys gardening and watching her plants and flowers thrive.
