Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Atim grew up surrounded by animals, including dogs, cats, and fish. Her connection with animals began at a young age and became especially meaningful after a childhood trip to South Africa, where she had the opportunity to observe wildlife in their natural environment. Today, she continues to share her life with animals and has one dog and one cat.
Atim knew she wanted to become a veterinarian when she was eight years old. During her trip to South Africa, she became fascinated by the behavior and resilience of the animals she encountered, as well as the unique ways they communicated without words. That experience stayed with her as she grew older and inspired her to pursue a career that would allow her to better understand, care for, and advocate for animals.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona before continuing her veterinary education at St. George’s University.
Atim is currently a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student at St. George’s University and anticipates graduating in 2027.
Having visited Las Vegas several times before, Atim is excited to return for a new experience through her externship. She first learned about the V.O.S. externship program through a friend and was encouraged to participate after hearing positive feedback from previous students who completed the program.
During this externship, Atim is focused on strengthening her hands-on clinical skills, particularly blood draws, catheter placement, intubation, ultrasonography, and cystocentesis. She has a particular interest in small animal emergency medicine and exotic animal medicine and is also interested in learning more about the business and management side of veterinary medicine. Following graduation, Atim plans to pursue an emergency medicine mentorship program to continue developing her skills and confidence as a clinician.
Outside of the hospital, Atim enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, reading, playing her Nintendo Switch, and spending time with friends.
