Welcome to our newest extern Alexandra!
Originally from Long Island, New York, Alexandra’s passion for animals ignited at a young age, influenced by her mother’s lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, which she ultimately didn’t pursue. Encouraged by her mother to follow in her footsteps, Alexandra’s childhood dream was to own a pet store. Growing up, her household resembled a mini zoo, with animals such as a dogs, cats, birds, and a bearded dragon.
As she advanced into adulthood and earned her undergraduate degree at Tufts University , Alexandra found herself at a crossroads, uncertain about what she wanted to do. Eventually, she decided to pursue a master’s degree in infectious disease and global health at Tufts University, focusing on the study of human diseases. It was during this journey, particularly when delving into the realm of zoonotic diseases, that her deep-rooted love for animals was rekindled, and her career path became unmistakably clear. Reflecting on her mother’s encouragement, she realized, “I had to go down my own path to realize this is what I want to do. You were right Mom!” Alexandra is currently enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University and is expected to graduate in the year .
During her externship, Alexandra eagerly anticipates gaining insights into the business management aspects of the veterinary field and working with exotic animals.
In her leisure time, she delights in outdoor adventures such as hiking and recently embarked on a 10-day road trip from New York to California, exploring all the National Parks along the way. Additionally, she enjoys painting and spending time with her Alaskan Malamute, Mako.
