The student representative supports Lone Mountain Animal Hospital’s externship and recruitment programs through onsite awareness and logistical support at their school. Duties also networking with other students, identifying onsite opportunities, and researching ways that Lone Mountain Animal Hospital can be a partner rather than just a potential employer. It is envisioned that the student representative would work on average 1-2 hours per week on Lone Mountain Animal Hospital business.
- Maintain academic excellence and focus on school.
- The student must abide by the rules and conflict of interest policies for their school.
- Networking with other students to identify externship needs and whether Lone Mountain can help.
- Identifying any possible recruitment opportunities should they present themselves.
- Connect, or join, the local VBMA chapter, exotics club or equivalent.
- Provide information on job fairs, industry presentation opportunities, and other cooperative events.
- Provide feedback, good or bad, on how LMAH externships and / or presentations are received by students and faculty.
- Keep LMAH’s information updated in onsite contact lists for externships and recruitment.
- Distribute materials, both printed and digital, within the school’s guidelines.
- Suggest future avenues for the LMAH to explore with a view to the externship program and recruitment.
