I’m originally from the small town of Demotte, Indiana, and moved to Michigan to pursue my undergraduate degree at Alma College. I graduated in 2021 as both a student and a student-athlete, experiences that shaped my work ethic, resilience, and love for staying active.
After finishing my degree, I began working in small-animal general practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. That’s where I discovered my passion for surgery and medicine, which ultimately inspired me to transition into laboratory animal medicine to broaden my skill set and deepen my understanding of the field. I am now a first-year veterinary student at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2029, and incredibly excited to explore where this path will lead.
Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with two mini Goldendoodles (Bella and Riley), a cat named Magic, and two bunnies, Simon and Sandy. Being surrounded by animals from such a young age naturally pushed me toward hands-on experiences, and I’ve volunteered at several small-animal hospitals throughout West Michigan. I’ve also had the opportunity to shadow in large-animal medicine, including both equine and cattle work, which helped me build a broader understanding of the profession and strengthened my appreciation for its diversity.
Outside of veterinary medicine, I’m happiest when I’m moving — whether that’s working out, running, doing Pilates, playing sports, or just finding new ways to stay active. I also love spending time with my friends, family, and loved ones. I’m a huge foodie at heart, and I love immersing myself in different cultures through food, travel, and meeting new people.
My biggest motivator is my family and the desire to support them the way they’ve always supported me. I’m also deeply motivated by the animals I hope to help throughout my career. I’m particularly interested in behavior and the neurology of the brain, and while I see myself working with small companion animals, I also have a growing fascination with equine sports medicine. I’m keeping an open mind as I move through veterinary school, excited to see which path feels like the right fit.
