Please welcome Delana, Lone Mountain’s latest extern.

Delana is from a small town called Ravenswood, West Virginia. Ever since Delana was a little girl she has found joy in helping animals. She recalls helping injured birds and fledglings that had fallen from their nests and this pushed her to learn more about helping animals. Attending school to be a veterinarian has solidified her decision.

Delana earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences at West Virginia University before moving to Mississippi for vet school. Delana is finishing up her third year at Mississippi State University. While in vet school, Delana has two cats, Kai and Kitten, and a sweet beagle mix named Willow to keep her company.

Delana became interested in the Lone Mountain Animal Hospital externship program after receiving an email from an upperclassman. She was excited to attend an externship that offered exotic experience and a chance to visit Las Vegas. She knew it would offer her the chance to travel, which she loves, as well as experience with a variety of patients and clients.

Once she graduates, Delana is interested in working with companion animals in a general practice setting. Her main interest is to work with exotics and feline specific medicine and her goal is to develop strong client and patient relationships.
