Aniya is originally from Newark, Delaware but currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her journey to veterinary medicine began in her childhood, influenced by her mother, a 6th grade math teacher who kept guinea pigs as class pets. After caring for these classroom pets and eventually having her own, a pivotal moment occurred when one of their guinea pigs needed veterinary care for an ovarian cyst. The compassionate care and thorough explanation from the veterinarian during this experience sparked Aniya’s desire to pursue veterinary medicine.
Her dedication to animal care continued throughout her education. While attending the University of Delaware, she volunteered at the ASPCA, gaining valuable experience in shelter medicine and high-volume services. She later completed an internship at a veterinary hospital, which led to a position as a veterinary assistant during her final year. Aniya graduated from the University of Delaware in 2023 and is now pursuing her veterinary degree at North Carolina State University, with an expected graduation in 2027.
During her externship, she aims to develop her skills in bloodwork interpretation, case workups, and exotic animal medicine, while also exploring the differences between East and West Coast veterinary practices. As a first-time visitor to Las Vegas, she’s excited to explore Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, and the Strip. In her free time, Aniya enjoys weight lifting, painting, reading, traveling, and exploring good food.
