Sydney, originally born in Las Vegas and raised in Sacramento, has always been surrounded by animals. Growing up with dogs and a grandmother who had 8 dogs and 5 cats, her passion for veterinary medicine was cultivated from a young age.
Her journey in veterinary medicine began early, with Sydney working at shelters during middle and high school. She volunteered at the Sacramento Zoo and worked full-time at a dog daycare during her undergraduate years. Sydney completed her undergraduate studies at Oregon State University, where she also worked in the surgical unit of the university’s veterinary hospital.
Seeking more hands-on experience, Sydney took a gap year to work as a technician at a small animal practice before applying to veterinary school. During her undergraduate years, she participated in a veterinary internship in Africa, volunteering at a cheetah conservation fund and working closely with the veterinary team.
Currently, Sydney is attending veterinary school in Arizona with an expected graduation date of 2025. During her externship, she looks forward to gaining experience in basic husbandry and working with clients.
In her spare time, Sydney enjoys hiking, watching TV, and walking her dog, Harley, by the water. Her ultimate goal is to improve the lives of animals and enhance client education in veterinary care.
