Dr. Debbie White grew up in the Midwest in Hammond, Indiana. Her love of nature and animals led her to a career in helping animals. She attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where she received both her B.S. in Animal Science and her D.V.M. Shortly after graduation she moved to the desert Southwest and has proudly called Las Vegas home ever since where she lives with her husband and her pets, “Boss” a Yorkie-Shih Tzu mix and “Nikki” a Bouvier des Flanders.
Over the years she has served as a regular veterinary contributor on local news and national radio programming and enjoys educating pet owners on health matters. From 2008 to 2020 she has been known as “Dr. Debbie” on the weekly nationally broadcast radio program called Animal Radio, where she fields questions from pet lovers across the country.
Since 2015 she has been a director on the Board of Directors for WVC (Western Veterinary Conference). In the past, she served on the Clark County Animal Advisory Committee and volunteered with the Medical Reserve Corps, Veterinary Component. Her professional associations include the American Animal Hospital Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, The Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians and the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians.
Dr. Debbie manages Lone Mountain Animal Hospital and is proud of the superb team of veterinary professionals that care for its patients every day. Her practice interests include internal medicine, ultrasound, and professional wellness. In her personal time, Dr. Debbie enjoys traveling, hiking, yoga, and meditation.
Taylor Parker, D.V.M.
Dr. Taylor Parker comes from Akron, Ohio which is where she first fell in love with taking care of animals. “Growing up, my sister and I were always taking in any injured wildlife we found,” Dr. Parker said. “The need to care for animals has stuck with me ever since.”
Dr. Parker attended Ross University in St. Kitts where the island lifestyle was a nice change of scenery from her hometown in Ohio. From there she attended Louisiana State University for her clinical year. While Las Vegas was initially not on her radar, Dr. Parker said that she is very happy that she made the move.
“It’s a wonderful city and there is so much to do here,” she said. As an avid hiker, Red Rock quickly became one of her favorite hangouts. “I have always loved the outdoors and Turtlehead Peak was one of the first places I knew I just had to try!”
Dr. Parker enjoys surgery and working with exotic animals. She said that patient care is always a top priority. “My family had pets growing up, as well as my friends, and classmates,” Dr. Parker said. “These animals are truly a member of the family and it so important to understand that when caring for them.”
Dr. Shoppa received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stetson University and her DVM from Kansas State University. She originally joined our staff in 2005, after taking some time off to spend with her family, she agreed to rejoin our practice on a part-time basis in 2015.
Her special interest includes oncology, cardiology, and exotic animal medicine. Her four-legged children include Cuzco, Ezzy, and Rumbler.
Dr. Quellhorst has always been interested in animal medicine. Originally from Wapakoneta, Ohio, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Zoology and D.V.M at The Ohio State University. Dr. Quellhorst enjoys exotic medicine because of the variety of animals she has the opportunity to treat.
Attracted to the warm climate of Las Vegas, she chose to join Lone Mountain Animal Hospital after seeing the quality of care we provide our patients. At home, Dr. Quellhorst has two cats named Layla and Rocky Raccoon. When she’s not working, Dr. Quellhorst enjoys watching live music, hiking, and traveling.
Dr. Evan Hayes is from Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Hayes attended Fort Valley State University in Georgia for his undergraduate studies. In his sophomore year of college, he made the decision to study veterinary technology for his Bachelor’s of Science degree. He went with veterinary technology for a more hands-on approach to animal care. He then began working in local animal hospitals. He attended The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine for his doctorate of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Hayes enjoys sharing his knowledge of the practice of veterinary medicine with clients. He feels pride in having the knowledge and skill to help animals in need. Dr. Hayes is no stranger to Lone Mountain Animal Hospital, an instructor recommended the externship program. After finishing his externship, he realized working with exotics would be an ideal career choice. He feels right at home with the crew of Lone Mountain Animal Hospital. Dr. Hayes is eager to work with fish and birds. He looks forward to flexing his surgical skills.
Dr. Hayes is a proud owner of a Pekingese named Hercules. He also plans to get a Boston terrier and a bird once he has settled in Las Vegas. When Dr. Hayes has free time, his hobbies include martial arts, working out, and dancing.
Dr. Lillian Muñoz is from Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. During high school, Dr. Muñoz decided that veterinary medicine was the career she would pursue and began shadowing her pet’s veterinarian. She attended the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce, majoring in Bio-Medical Sciences. She graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana for her doctorate in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Muñoz completed the Lone Mountain Animal Hospital externship program in October of 2017. “The patient care is phenomenal here,” she said. Her hope is to give her clients all the information they need to make the best decision for their pets. Her favorite part of the job is finding a proper diagnosis for her patients, and Dr. Muñoz is particularly interested in animal dermatology.
Dr. Muñoz is a proud parent of a cat named Gamora. When she is not working, she tries to spend as much time with her friends as possible. She enjoys hiking, going to movies, dinner and drinks with friends, and travel.
Dr. Aimee Trujillo, D.V.M.
Dr. Aimee Trujillo was born and raised on a farm on Guadeloupe Island in the Caribbean but moved to Lafayette, Louisiana when she was 10-years-old. She said that growing up with cows, chicken, and pigs sparked her interest in veterinary medicine.
“I even rode horses,” Dr. Trujillo said. “I just loved all the animals.”
She started studying at the University of Louisiana in Layfette and volunteered at various shelters for two years, and shadowed an equine veterinarian before transferring to Louisiana State University, where she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree. Dr. Trujillo said she fell in love with exotics and small animals while studying at LSU.
“I really like exotics, but I also really like cats,” she said. “So, I’m more of a cat person than a dog person.”
Dr. Trujillo also had an externship in Raleigh, North Carolina that specialized in exotics. She said she saw squirrels, frogs, honey badgers, and everything in between.
In her spare time, Dr. Trujillo dabbles in acting and enjoys hiking and riding her horse, Galvea. She also owns a cat named Mimi-Siku, two guinea pigs named Bellatrix and Narcissa Malfoy after the “Harry Potter” series, and a fish named Bully.
Dr. Aryn Bordman, D.V.M.
Dr. Aryn Bordman is a Las Vegas native and returned to her hometown to start her veterinary career. She attended Sierra Nevada College for her B.S. in Biology and went on to Colorado State University for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine degree.
Like many of her colleagues, Dr. Bordman wanted to be a veterinarian since she was little. Dr. Bordman loved learning about animals, whether it through books or religiously watching the Animal Planet channel to garner whatever information she could. In high school, Dr. Bordman volunteered with a local cat rescue on weekends assisting with their adoption events.
During her undergraduate years, Dr. Bordman volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary and taught the public about the various animals that resided there. This experience sparked an interest in exotics and zoological animal medicine. This led Dr. Bordman to a three week “Vets in the Wild” experience in South Africa, learning about the treatment of exotic and wild animals by veterinarians. Since then, she’s had the opportunity to visit Israel and Japan and hopes to do more international traveling in the future.
Dr. Bordman enjoys going to Lake Mead and paddleboarding to stay active, especially during the warm Vegas summers. In her spare time, Dr. Bordman can be found sewing costumes for fun and for comic conventions, drawing, and relaxing at home with her two rescue cats, Apollo and Percy.
