Welcome our newest extern at Lone Mountain Animal Hospital: Affrika!
Affrika is a veterinary student at North Carolina State University and is set to graduate in May 2023. Growing up in a military family, she had the opportunity to travel and live in various states across the country, but now calls North Carolina her home. For her undergraduate degree, she attended Clemson University and received a Bachelors in Animal Science and a minor in Biological Science.
From a young age, Affrika developed a passion for working with animals, and has gained hands-on experience working with a variety of animals through her experiences on the university farms. She had many exotic pets growing up, such as a pygmy possum, ferrets, gerbils, and more. Affrika is currently the proud owner of two pets, a Bichon named Polo, and a hedgehog named Mordecai.
Affrika’s goal is to work in a veterinary clinic that specializes in exotic animal care, where she can apply her knowledge and skills to help these unique creatures lead healthy and happy lives. She is excited to work with the doctors and staff at Lone Mountain Animal Hospital and gain more hands-on experience.
In her spare time, Affrika enjoys drawing and sketching, and hiking (which she plans to do plenty of while she is in Las Vegas). She also loves to travel, which stems from her military upbringing and all the travel she did with her family.
