Josie is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and currently attends the University of Pennsylvania where she will graduate in May 2023. She received her undergraduate degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio, where she studied biology. Josie chose to attend University of Pennsylvania because of her love for exotic veterinary medicine and the Aquavet program that focuses on aquatic animal care.
As a child, Josie’s family had two cats and a dog, and she now has four cats named Arlo, Panini, Olive, and Peaches and she also had a hedgehog during her time in Ohio. Two of her cats live at home with her parents and two have accompanied her to Philadelphia.
During her undergraduate degree, Josie was studying engineering, but she quickly found a love of biology and specifically veterinary medicine. She shadowed zookeepers at the Pittsburgh Zoo during a summer project and then vets at local clinics and developed a love of animal medicine.
In her spare time, Josie enjoys scuba diving (which she is certified in) and traveling to dive in new places. She looks forward to diving somewhere outside the country soon. She also enjoys exploring local farmers markets and reading a good book in a park.
